Vehicle Loading and Restraints

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATIONAL TRANSPORT AUTHORITY AND THE TASMANIAN ROAD SAFETY COUNCIL THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES OF LOADING AND LOAD RESTRAINT MUST BE MET.

Any load-carrying vehicle must be loaded and driven in such a way as to prevent danger to any person, or damage to any property.

It is the responsibility of the driver, the vehicle owner and the vehicle operator to ensure the vehicle used is suitable for the type of load.

It is the responsibility of the consignor of the freight, to provide the person in charge of the loading and the driver with any available information on the weight of each load and the centre of mass of the load or each item in a load. When a vehicle is loaded, the manufacturer's tyre and axle load capacity, the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) or Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) and, where applicable, Gross Combination Mass (GCM) must not be exceeded.

It is the responsibility of the person in charge of the loading and the driver to ensure the load is correctly positioned on the vehicle.

It is the responsibility of the vehicle operator, the person in charge of the loading and the driver to ensure any dunnage is correctly chosen, positioned and restrained on the vehicle.

It is the responsibility of the owner, the driver and the person in charge of the loading, to ensure that the vehicles load restraint structure, attachments and load restraint equipment are suitable for the application and are serviceable and functional.

It is the responsibility of the person in charge of the loading and the driver, to ensure that a load is properly restrained by the vehicle load restraint structure, attachments and load restraint equipment using safe operating procedures.

Vehicles will not be loaded if we consider the load to be inappropriate or unlawful. I.e. Excessive weight or inappropriate restraints.

Customers and visitors are not permitted to operate any machinery on our premises.

Customers and visitors are not allowed to enter the factory unless accompanied by an authorised person.

Please observe warning signs and be aware of all vehicular traffic, including the loader forklifts and trucks.
